SVG, unlike JPEG or PNG, is a vector-based format that uses XML to define shapes, paths and fills. This means SVG images are resolution-independent and can be scaled without loss of quality, making them ideal for responsive web design. In contrast, JPEG and PNG are raster formats which store pixel data, leading to degradation when resized. Additionally, SVGs support interactivity and animation, while JPEGs and PNGs do not.
