GIT stash takes the working directory and index’s current state and places it on the stack for use. This gives you a clean working directory and gives you the freedom to toggle between multiple projects at once.

If you are currently working on a project and need to get something else done on another project, the stash option helps you retain the edits you have been working on previously.
