Sniffing is the process of monitoring and capturing the data packets passing through a computer network.  This process is used by network administrators to monitor the data traffic passing through their network. Through sniffing, you can see both protected and unprotected traffic. This process enables hackers to capture data packets with sensitive information such as FTP password and email traffic.
