Communication is an important skill for any animator to have. Employers ask this question to see if you can use your communication skills to resolve a conflict or disagreement with another team member. Use examples from past experiences where you had to step in and help solve a problem between other employees.
Example: “Yes, I have had to use my communication skills to resolve conflicts on projects in the past. For example, when working on a 2D animation project for a client, there was a disagreement between myself and another animator about how best to approach a particular scene. We both had different ideas of what would work best, but neither of us wanted to compromise.
To resolve this conflict, I took a step back and used my communication skills to listen to the other animator’s perspective and explain why I thought my approach was better suited for the project. After discussing our ideas further, we were able to come up with a solution that incorporated elements from both of our approaches. This allowed us to move forward with the project without any further issues.”
