I am a Peace Corps volunteer. How does the Affordable Care Act affect my health coverage?

The health care reform law does not change health coverage provided by the Peace Corps program. If you are a Peace Corps volunteer and have health insurance through the program, your coverage meets the minimum essential coverage requirements. If your coverage from the Peace Corps program ends, you may be eligible for coverage through the Health Insurance Marketplace, even if your coverage ends outside of the Marketplace’s open enrollment period. When your Peace Corps coverage ends, visit optimahealth.com/individuals to apply and find out if you qualify for Marketplace coverage, including lower costs on monthly premiums, and out-of-pocket expenses.
